Sheila Gail
Chiponski
August 28, 1958 – March 6, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Gail Chiponski on March 6, 2026, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, at the age of 67.
Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her father, Stan Chiponski, her daughter, Christa Anseeuw (Jordan), and her cherished grandchildren; Taylor, Novah, and Vehlan. She is also survived by her sisters; Karen, Lori (Terry), and Tricia (Paul); and her brother Micheal (Debbie).
Sheila will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews; Sean (Sheena), Eric (Aurora), Braden (Corrina), Colley-Ann (Colin - Kathryn, Lily, Kennedy), Derek (Julie – Hailey, Hannah, Harley), Kyle, Andrew, and Chaz (Katie).
She will also be remembered by her great-nieces and great-nephews; Bethany and her daughter Stevie, Lennix, Laila, Kayleigh, and Kingston, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Bernice Chiponski, with whom she shared a very special bond.
Above all else, Sheila cherished her family. Her daughter and grandchildren were the light of her life and greatest joy. Sheila was a loving, selfless, and fiercely devoted mother and grandmother who always protected those she held dear. She was beyond proud to be a daughter, sister, and auntie, and she lit up whenever her family was near.
Sheila showed great determination when she returned to school and earned her Health Care Aide Diploma from Red River Community College. We were all so very proud of her. Following graduation, she began her career as a Home Care Attendant. In this field she truly excelled, and it quickly became her passion. Sheila had a special gift for caring for others, and took great pride in the work she did. She brought comfort, kindness, and dignity to those she cared for, and she made a lasting difference in many lives.
Sheila shared a very special and unique bond with each of her three sisters, one filled with love, loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of memories together. As they can attest, Sheila fiercely loved, protected, and stood up for those she cared about—even strangers when she knew it was needed. This strength was part of who she was from a young age, as she never hesitated to defend those who couldn’t stand up for themselves. Her brother, Mike, fondly remembers her as his childhood partner in crime, sharing many adventures, a love of music, laughs, and lessons along the way.
Sheila's favorite pastimes were spending evenings around a cozy bonfire and gazing up at the stars, with Delta Beach being one of her favorite places to do so. There was nothing quite like a country cruise with Sheila—windows down and music playing. She truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.
Sheila deeply valued her friendships, and anyone lucky enough to be in that circle knew she was a true ride-or-die friend who could always be counted on. Those who knew Sheila will remember her for her strength, loyalty, compassion, feistiness, and her ability to speak her mind, as well as her unwavering love and support—all of which made her so special.
Sheila loved and appreciated her Home Care girls, and the kindness, care, and support they provided meant so much to her. Our family is truly grateful for the compassion they showed her.
Sheila was a devoted Christian whose strong faith guided her throughout her life and remained a source of comfort and strength to her. Because of the love she shared and the faith she carried, Sheila's presence brought joy and comfort to the lives of so many.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. She will forever be our Angel.
