Curtis Gordon
Pogue
September 24, 1943 – June 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Curtis Pogue our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend on June 9, 2026 at the age of 83.
Curtis lived a life rooted in family, community and the farm he loved - a place that was more than home, the place he was born and raised and spent his life raising his family and creating memories alongside his beloved wife Val, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
A lifelong farmer, Curtis dedicated his years to caring for cattle, horses, sheep and chickens. He was happiest outdoors, whether tending to his livestock, working in his garden meticulously pulling each weed, or spending time on the tractor he loved so much. While he was known for his red trucks and rubber boots, he also had a fondness for smoking a colt- a habit he seemed convinced was a well-kept secret.
Curtis was a familiar and trusted individual in the community as a school bus driver for Pine Creek School Division for 39 years, safely transporting generations of children and forming countless lasting connections along the way.
Family was the center of everything he did. He leaves behind his loving wife Val, his two daughters; Rhonda (Vaughn) and Lisa (Mark), six grandchildren; Breanne, Mickayla (Mike), Klay (Anya), Leah (Devon), Chad (Kristyn), Kamryn, five great-grandchildren; Isabella, Jayda, William, Gracelyn and Miles, all who brought him immense pride and joy. Curtis’s family circle also included two very special people, Carlos and Trevor, who became family in every way that mattered. Also his sister Merlyn Alexon, and sisters-in-law Elaine Donald and Evelyn Boak.
When Curtis wasn’t farming or spending time with his family, he could often be found sitting beneath the shade of a favourite tree or enjoying a game of Canasta or Whist with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of hockey and curling and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favourite teams. His home was often filled with the sounds of country music or waltzes, music that brought him great comfort and happiness throughout his life.
Curtis was predeceased by; his father James Pogue, mother Mollie Gunnarson, stepfather Gunner Gunnarson, beloved grandson Kurt Killam, and his brothers-in-law; John Alexon, Don and Duane Boak and Herb Donald.
Though his rubber boots are now still, his tractor parked and his red truck is at rest, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared and the love he gave will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. Curtis will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart and unwavering work ethic as well as the loved he shared so freely with those around him.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone, MB for the amazing care they provided. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
